Status of After School Affairs Review

So... I've gotten through Main Story for everyone but on The Second Season, I always get a glitch. I kept thinking I'd wait for an update to come but with the two bug fixes that came out in that time, nothings fixed it. I can't buy Kenzo or Kiyonori's stories. When I click on either of them and scroll to get to their Second Season, it never loads the page, and then when I click to change guys, all the portraits go black. I can't really have this as a reason to report though, since my phone is so old it isn't technically compatible despite the fact I've played many of the stories. For that reason I won't be reviewing After School Affairs until I get a new phone, probably in January. My phone was already very old so this is just one of many reasons to buy a new one. Maybe then can I play Mystic Messenger too.

I know technically I can review for Main Story, but like with my other Voltage games, I want to give recommendations and  warnings for certain stories. That said If anyone is curious on which are fine enough to buy, I have played some of the Side Stories.

What's coming next then? Anything really, I downloaded Alice Love And Labyrinth, but the game lags to high hell. I bought Dandelion Recently as well. It might be awhile until a new review comes out, so I apologize.

[Mobage Review] 10 Billion Husbands

10 Billion Husbands is an idle game mobage, in a similar vein to games like Cookie Clicker, or Crush Crush. In the game your goal is to marry every man on earth (And then some) by submitting Marriage Registers. Think of Marriage Registers as kind of, your cookies in a sense. If you're a madman enough, you can upgrade love points so that the amount of Love Per Second (LPS) you get increases with each manual tap, though I usually just had the app running while I was sleeping or doing something else.

This is also a male counterpart to 10 Billion Wife's, but I noticed the guys in this game were much less original than the wife's, there were at least 3 Joke characters I could think up, 4 if you count the guy with a flamethrower. The CG's you get for leveling your characters high are nice, yet kind of dull looking in a way? The best CG was for Lap-Dog, but I may just think that cause Lap-Dog a cute. There is a bit of an LPS curve around either Scientist husband or Samurai Husband which makes you feel like you don't make enough LPS', at least, thinking if you're a casual player, it might take you a long time to clear. I downloaded the game on a whim and it took me 2 weeks to get every achievement, and that was with me usually running it for hours on end. I'd say for regular players it might take 2 months to beat. Also, there are in fact in game purchases to increase the rate of points you get,but it's very useless for a free idle game to have, so I didn't bother buying any. You can get free gifts randomly, or by sharing a post on twitter anyway, which will triple the amount of LPS you get per tap for a few seconds.

It does feel very lackluster in comparison to another Idle game I play, Crush Crush, but Crush Crush is more of a pseudo Idle game dating sim type game, meanwhile 10BH is strictly Idle. The guys designs were very bland or at the very least, something you see everywhere. And on the gameplay itself, it may say that it continues to rack points while outside the app, but I noticed you have to have the app open and running for it to accumulate points.

All in all, 10 Billion Husbands isn't something to write home about. If you want to kill time, you could potentially become addicted to getting all the achievements, like I did. But other than that, there's not really anything going for it. The main incentive is to do all the achievements to unlock the special illustration pretty much.

[Otome Game Review] Memoirs of an Angel

So, this game took me awhile to just sit down and play. Not really a bad thing necessarily, but the main character, Zuleika, reminded me of a friend I knows OC that they RP with, right down to her weapon being a scythe. Not really that weird just.... threw me for a loop as I played, thinking I was playing as my friends OC instead (that happens to date one of the characters I RP to add to the weirdness)

Review Plans for July - August

Sorry about disappearing for a few months, though... I don't think people really look at my blog LOL. My computer died for a couple of months, and I got it workable at the end of June. So now I'm back to talking to myself about otomes on blogger.

Downloaded Memoirs of an Angel after the update was announced, and started playing through it already so a review of that? Definitely. Other than that I'm playing Narcissu which isn't an otome, and bought Fire Emblem Fates but I play as a boy my first time around and depending on how burnt out I feel I may do a run through as female and review it. I also got Dangan Ronpa 1 on Steam so I got a lot of non otome to play. So basically, this is mostly a time where I'm playing non otome games.  I'm also going to an anime con in August and possibly going camping so...

However, I did download After School Affairs, and bought OZMAFIA!! on Steam. I feel like the OZMAFIA review won't be coming for a long time though...
Currently I've played all the guys main routes in After School Affairs, and making my way into sequels and special stories. As for Memoirs, I completed the King guy's route, and OZMAFIA I'm working on romancing Scarlet right now (BEST BOY BEST BOY!)

Review Schedule:
Memoirs of an Angel
After School Affairs
Fire Emblem Fates (Possibly)
OZMAFIA!! (Possibly if I spend all my free time playing it LOL)

[Kusoge Review] Persona 4 Dancing All Night

I told myself not to review anything outside the otome genre... But Persona 4 Dancing All Night obviously wouldn't let me do that oh no. All reviews I've seen have actually had the gall to recommend this. And I guess, If Persona 4 is your favorite game series ever, it's hard to tell you not to. But myself being a huge Persona fanboy, along with all things SMT and most ATLUS games, myself? I wish I could have gotten my money back.

[Otome Game Review] A Troll's Fairy Tale

A Troll's Fairy Tale is a game that was made for NaNoReNo, an event where people try to make games within a month. I'm actually participating this year (2016) so not only did I play it for fun, but also for some inspiration along with a few other non-otome VN's. The version I played was a bit polished up, released three months after the original version. I'm not sure what all's different, but I did notice the CG's had a bit more polish to them compared to the sprites (One noticeable difference being how the artist drew Acacia's hair in the CG's compared to her sprite.) But enough with the small bits, let's talk about the actual game here.

GrapeCity Con

So, this isn't otome game related, but I wanted to do coverage of my local towns con anyways :P

[Otome Game Review] Cupid [16+]

Just in time for Valentines day, a visual novel about that mischievous angel of love! This game doesn't SHOW any details of body parts, but it's still very much not safe for work, so I'll be warning for that ahead of time. It also have very bloody disturbing parts, and pretty much anything people find unnerving is in here somewhere (mentions of rape, abuse, suicide, etc) What a lovely game to play on Valentines Day, right? Also, this game isn't really something I'd consider too much of an otome. Romance is there, yes, but it feels like it's in it's own category or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass

The interesting thing about this game is that you, the player, do not take the role of the main character. Instead, you take the role of a voice inside her head called 'Mother' That guides her by either being a super abusive bitch or a slightly less abusive mother that actually shows a semblance of caring for her daughter.

[Otome Game Review] Seduce Me the Otome

Getting Seduced by Incubi? Why does this sound familiar...

Repetitive titles for the win!!!

Ahem, this is an otome game I've had my eyes on for awhile now but never got around to actually playing it until around November, and I was pretty slow even then X,D I think it's the art style that caught me off. The anatomy's fine for the most part but the faces looked really bad at certain points! The main thing that kept me going was the voice acting. In fact, it's what got me interested in it. Seiyuus nice, but I always had a fondness for english voice actors and would like more otome games to get an english dub (outside of anime versions that usually will get dubbed....) And I've always wanted to be a voice actor and did some amateur fandubbing myself so I really appreciate the effort they put into this game.

It's a bit ironic that in October I was playing an otome game (Cute Demon Crashers) about Incubus and a Succubus and here I am in February reviewing another game with about the same setting.  They may have a lot of the same choices in it, but Seduce Me and Cute Demon Crashers are very different in tone and what they mean to accomplish. Seduce Me is more of a forbidden love story with deep lore while Cute Demon Crashers is more of a nukige, I'd actually compare Seduce Me's Plot more to DiabolikLovers with a dash of Shin Megami Tensei thrown into the mix. Looks like Incubi are becoming the new Vampires in the world of otome...

Review Plans for February - March

Taking it a bit easy on my wallet these months, as I'm planning only free game reviews. Being free usually means it's short and this also helps give me some more time to play through other side otomes casually. That doesn't mean I'm not buying otome games this month, but they're all in Japanese and I'm not the best at Japanese so I don't want to mess with that, so they're only for private enjoyment.

Anyways
Planned games:

Seduce Me The Otome
Cupid
A Troll's Fairy Tale

I've already played a route in Seduce Me, but the others I havn't touched, just have them downloaded on my computer so far.  As for imports, I'll be getting Diabolik Lovers, Vita Edition, Cause I want to see whats so hyped up about it. I'm prepared for the inevitable disappointment like when I played Hakuoki. Other than that I'm really interested in CollarxMalice, just wish they'd announce the script writer already. My friends are telling me to play Norn9, and since it got translated expect a review of it... sometime this year probably.

[Otome Game Review and Reccomendations] A Knight's Devotion

Stabbed through the heart-- and you're to blame.

Back at it with another Voltage app review! This game is a lot older than 10 Days With My Devil though, like... I think it came out before Love Letter from Theif X old. It's also pretty much been abandoned by Voltage, so you don't have to worry about more sub stories and that coming out! Alltogether I think this app comes to cost $45 if you want all the routes and their epilogues and sequels. A blessing seeing as I spent over 100 on 10dwmd! Yeah, I have no life. This app also doesn't connect to the Sweet Cafe but I don't play enough voltage apps to really care about Sweets Cafe in the first place!! But that might be a turn off for Voltage enthusiasts?? Then again, if you're a voltage enthusiast you've probably already played this game 3 years ago huh!!

You play as a Princess (Who I named Yoshi. Thinking on it now, Peach would have been a better name, huh?)  that was raised most of their life as a commoner in a small village, unaware that she's actually royalty! One day a bunch of guys that look like Ku Klux members except in black, not white sheets, come and try to kidnap you. A bunch of hot (?) guys along with your childhood friend save you and tell you you are the princess of Rapier kingdom and that you must return home! But there are troubles ahead seeing as Gladius Kingdom wants the Royal Family dead, and now that you have been revealed, GOTTA WATCH YO BACK. So then you choose who you want to be your protector and live the runaway life to your castle wooo!

[DLC Overview and Recommendations] Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi

So as some might know by now, there is a shit ton of DLC for Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi on the PSN. When I got into the Stories segment I was honestly getting curious and looked up any overviews of the DLC online to see if they're good or not. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care about the DLC. Maybe because it's PS3 this version didn't have as huge of a userbase or what? I managed to find a person on youtube that uploaded all of the story DLC's online at least, but I decided might as well just throw my money at Aksys for the story DLC because while I did buy the game, I bought it from someone on Amazon, so I figured might as well give them some direct money for Hakuoki and wound up spending a TON more than I did on the actual full game lol. Anyways, here;s an Overview on the DLC which is basically me telling you whether buying each DLC is worth it or not. I won't be listing the free DLC as it's free so I don't see why anyone would care and just Download them themselves? Yeah lol.

[Otome Game Review] Hakuoki: ~Stories of the Shinsengumi~

Ever wanted to date real life history figures? Have I got a game for you.

Stories of the Shinsengumi is a port of the original game (Demon of the Fleeting Blossom) along with a previously not localized fandisk (Zuisouroku) It also includes some Memory scenarios from the 3DS remake of Demon of the Fleeting Blossom but apparently most of that is DLC so LOL. Not only are you getting one game, you're getting two games and a shit ton of content. This PS3 game is an otome beast. Or at least... it would have been. Skip to final thoughts to avoid spoilers.
